When we talk about breeding, we often think of cattle, sheep or pigs. But for Laurène, breeding is all about beetles! Spending most of her time in the lab, Laurène’s mission is to find the best reproducers to optimize the efficiency of our insects, including improving disease resistance, growth, and appearance.
A lifelong lover of animals and nature, Laurène imagined herself as a breeder or farmer when she was a child. She dreamed of having her own animal park, to study and protect animals from environmental hazards. Passionate about photography, she started off taking photos of the animals around her, before embarking on an audiovisual degree. But it wasn’t long before she went back to her first love: after her degree, a short university stint in Physics and a cameraman experience at the Hellfest festival, Laurène began her training in agri-food & biotech, determined to work with animals and the environment.
But a job offer from Ynsect disrupted her plans to study! Without a second thought, she joined the Ynsect adventure to help reduce our impact on the environment and find alternative solutions. Besides the warmth of the labs, Laurène’s favorite thing about her job is the constant learning, collaboration, and innovation. Thoroughness and efficiency sum up the approach of this expert in insect biology.
